Ukraine Receives More Than $1.2 Billion in Grants From the US and Finland

On Thursday, June 30, the state budget of Ukraine received grant funds in the amount of $1.215 billion: $1.2 billion from the United States and $15 million from Finland.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance.

Grant funds are provided as part of the fifth additional funding under the Public Expenditure Support for Sustainable Governance in Ukraine (PEACE in Ukraine) project.

The goal of the PEACE in Ukraine project is partial compensation of state budget expenditures, including social and humanitarian ones, not related to security and defense.

The Ministry of Finance added that the attracted grants will be used to pay salaries to government employees and teachers, pension payments, as well as payments under certain state social assistance programs (IDPs, persons with disabilities, low-income families and housing and communal subsidies).

“I am grateful to the governments of the United States, Finland and the World Bank team for fruitful cooperation and significant support in terms of ensuring humanitarian and social spending during a full-scale war. Financing in the form of grants allows us not to increase the debt burden and contributes to the financial stability of Ukraine,” said Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko .
